Holidays with Your Horse

Adds Farm – holidays with your horse – Looking back at 2015

What a fantastic year 2015 was – our busiest season yet. I never thought when we moved here back in 2011 that our B&B for horses would have taken off in the way it has. The best thing is the number of new friends we made from our lovely guests and their horses that come and stay with us – they almost seem like part of the family – and always lovely when so many of you return each year to stay with us again.

Our adult camps were as popular as ever in 2015 – with Faversham and District RC holding their camp at Adds for the first time as well.Trevi and the Adds logo

We have already started scheduling more camps for this year with our popular instructors: Janine Lamy, Psyche Dell and Martine Weber – schedules and dates just about to be posted – although some early birds have beaten me to it and already reserved their places!

In addition to the scheduled camps we are always happy to put together a bespoke camp/holiday for a ready made group or riding club and tailor it to your own requirements (subject to instructor availability of course – or you can always organise it yourself with your own instructor).  Just get in touch and chat about what you would like to do.

Our 4-legged family at Adds Farm is all well although, sadly, we lost the lovely Beaver in the Spring last year. However, he had a very happy retirement here happily grazing in the fields with his friends and remained quite a character right until the end. Trevi is now back in full work after a long and careful rehabilitation over the last year (and as lively as ever!). Hector continues to enjoy taking out his guided rides with Chris and we have kept Wolsey in light work for shorter rides as going out on the Forest seems to have given him a new lease of life – so no retirement just yet for him.

Yuki, the Adds cat, is out and about again too.P1000738 (1) His fractured spine seems to have mended well – just not quite straight so he runs a bit like a wobbly banana and cant jump as high as he used to – gone are his days of terrorising horses in the arena by leaping out of the trees and chasing them down the long side! But don’t doubt it – he is very much still in charge of Adds.

Chris retired in the summer; and not sad to say goodbye to the long commutes on the train to London each day – now just his usual 5 hour guided picnic ride around the Forest and, not forgetting of course, his specialty BBQ leg of lamb for our camp BBQs.

We also managed to squeeze in some lovely holidays – my favourite was definitely Sri Lanka and riding an elephant rather than a horse – such a lovely country and people. P1010475 (1)

Holidays are so important – we have planned a tour of China in early Spring before our season here gets underway. Something different to look forward to. Just like a holiday with your horse – whether you want a more active break including some training or just want to come and relax and enjoy Adds Farm and the superb riding on the lovely Ashdown Forest – we look forward to welcoming you all.

We love hosting these holidays for you and are very much looking forward to meeting new guests and meeting up again with our returning friends and their horses.
